Rate Wala is a free money transfer comparison tool for UAE residents. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, and what rights you have. We have written it to be straightforward — not to bury important things in legal language.

2. What data we collect and why
We only collect data that is necessary for the service to work.
Email address
Why: To send you daily rate alert emails if you sign up for them. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email.
Legal basis: Your consent — you provide this voluntarily.
Name, company, and email (enquiry forms)
Why: To respond to partnership or support enquiries you submit through the site.
Legal basis: Your consent — you provide this voluntarily by submitting the form.
Usage data (pages visited, interactions)
Why: To understand how the site is used and improve it. Collected via PostHog, a product analytics tool. No personally identifiable data is linked to this unless you have submitted an email.
Legal basis: Legitimate interest in improving the service.
Push notification subscription token
Why: If you opt in to push notifications, a device token is stored to send you alerts. No personal identity is attached.
Legal basis: Your consent — you explicitly accept the browser prompt.
3. What we do not collect
- We do not collect financial data, account numbers, or payment information
- We do not run transactions or hold money
- We do not build profiles on individual users
- We do not use tracking for advertising purposes
4. Third-party services we use
To operate the site, we use the following third-party tools. Each has its own privacy policy.
We do not sell your data to any third party. We do not share your data with providers listed on the comparison tool.
5. How long we keep your data
Rate alert email: Until you unsubscribe. We delete your email within 30 days of unsubscribing.
Contact form submissions: Up to 12 months, then deleted.
Analytics data: Retained per PostHog's default retention settings. No personally identifiable data is stored.
Push notification tokens: Until you withdraw consent or the token becomes invalid.
6. Your rights
Under the UAE Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021 on the Protection of Personal Data (PDPL), and where applicable under other regulations, you have the following rights:
- Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- Correction — ask us to correct inaccurate data
- Deletion — ask us to delete your data
- Withdraw consent — unsubscribe from alerts at any time, or email us to withdraw any other consent
- Objection — object to how we process your data

7. Cookies and local storage
We use browser local storage (not traditional cookies) to remember small preferences such as whether you have dismissed a prompt. We do not use advertising cookies. Analytics tools (PostHog, Google reCAPTCHA) may set their own cookies — you can manage these through your browser settings.
8. Security
We take reasonable technical measures to protect the data we hold. However, no system is entirely without risk. We do not store financial data or passwords. If you believe there has been a data breach, contact us immediately at hello@ratewala.org.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the date at the top of this page. We will not reduce your rights under this policy without clear notice. Continued use of the service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
